Deliveroo Launches Drone Deliveries in Dublin

Deliveroo has reached a new milestone in delivery technology: in partnership with Manna Air Delivery, the company has launched drone deliveries in Dublin. Customers in the suburb of Dublin 15 can now have meals delivered by drone, with delivery times as short as three minutes. With this move, Deliveroo joins a growing number of delivery services exploring aerial logistics to boost efficiency and tap into new markets.

Under the slogan “Deliveroo? More like Deliv-air-roo,” the delivery platform announced the launch via social media. Customers can order from popular local restaurants such as Musashi, WOWBurger, Boojum and Elephant & Castle, with meals flown straight to their doorsteps by drone.

The drones are provided and operated by Manna Air Delivery, an Irish company specializing in airborne logistics. Manna has been active in drone deliveries in Ireland for some time and partners with various retailers and restaurants to enable ultra-fast delivery times.

Pilot Phase for Future Expansion

For Deliveroo, the drone delivery service in Dublin is primarily a test. The company aims to explore how drones can complement its existing delivery network. Key focus areas include enhancing the customer experience, serving hard-to-reach locations more quickly, and attracting new users.

Whether the service will be expanded to other cities or countries remains to be seen, but it’s clear that airborne logistics are becoming an increasingly serious proposition in the world of food delivery.
